Adam Sandler Faces Backlash For Deliberately Breaking Oscars Dress Code

Adam Sandler attended the 2025 Oscars in true Adam Sandler fashion and, despite being called out for looking too casual, displayed zero shame.

The Happy Gilmore star, who has built quite the reputation around his distaste for fashion, donned long, blue basketball shorts, a Hawaiian shirt, a blue hoodie, and sneakers for the 97th annual Academy Awards on Sunday (March 2) and was called out by host Conan O'Brien for breaking the traditional formal dress code.

"Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up," Sandler yelled before drawing attention to his personality.

"You know what Conan. I like the way I look because I am a good person. I don't care about what I wear or what I don't wear. My snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offended you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers."

The standout stood up from his seat and announced his leave of the storied award show, but not before inviting the crowd to "join me for a game of five-on-five basketball" after the event. Upon exiting the theatre, the 50 First Dates icon grabbed Timothèe Chalamet and shouted the Dune actor's last name in only a way Adam Sandler could, reviving his legendary Golden Globes bit.
