Small Shining Light Leads To Life-Saving Water Rescue In Historic KY Flood

A Kentucky firefighter was turning his fire truck around in the dark when it turned into a miraculous water rescue, reported Courier Journal.

When firefighter Eddie Stacy was turning his truck around, he noticed a tiny light off in the distance coming from the flooded Red River. Stacy was part of a storm-response unit that was cutting a fallen tree when he was forced to move the truck.

Turns out, the light was from the cellphone of a woman waving from a car that was being overtaken by the waters.

Stacy and other members of the Hazel Green Fire Department in southeastern Kentucky sprang into action, pulling five people from the car.

The water inside the car had already reached up to the dashboard.

Among the individuals pulled from the car was a 17-month-old boy and a woman who appeared to be having a seizure.

Stacy said, "We don't do too much training on this water rescue. Instinct, it just kicks in."

He explained that the rescue was the result of divine intervention. He stated, "Nobody could hear from where she was. That little flashlight when I was driving down the road just caught my attention. It was God, I tell you. It was God to have me in that place where I was supposed to be."

Stacy tied a 100-foot rope around himself and the truck to retrieve the individuals inside the car. The occupants were brought to the nearby fire station to be checked out by emergency personnel.
