Body Of Missing Kentucky Man Found In Grand Canyon National Park

The National Park Service found the body of a missing Kentucky man that was last seen over a week ago, reported Fox 10 Phoenix.

40-year-old John Pennington was last seen at Yaki Point near the South rim of the Grand Canyon on February 23rd.

Pennington reportedly left his vehicle on Tuesday and was traveling alone.

According to Park authorities, Pennington was driving a yellow 2005 Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle with Ohio plates.

Officials found a body and a motorcycle that matched the description of Pennington's vehicle below the South Kaibab Trailhead during a multi-day search and rescue operation on March 3rd.

According to rangers, the body was found 465 feet below the rim and was taken to the Cococino Medical Examiner's office.

Officials stated, "Based on evidence found with the body, the individual is believed to be missing person John Pennington."

Grand Canyon NPS wrote on Twitter, "News Release: Missing Person, John Pennington, recovered below the Rim near South Kaibab Trailhead."

According to the National Park Service, an investigation is currently underway.
