Seacrest Connects With Factory Owner Producing Masks During COVID-19

Now is the time to help. Ryan Seacrest connected with Hedley & Bennett factory owner Ellen Marie Bennett on-air on Friday, April 3. Ellen has turned her Los Angeles-based factory, which usually produces aprons and culinary workwear, into a facility making and donating face masks to help amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The CDC and healthcare professionals recommend healthcare providers and those sick wear a face mask; Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and other government officials have since suggested everyone wear any sort of covering when in public to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus but to leave medical-grade masks, such as N95 or surgical masks, for healthcare professionals only.

“About a week ago I heard Governor Cuomo say they’re running out of masks and I have a 60,000 square foot factory in LA and I thought I cannot not do something so I’m going to help this cause and we’re going to do it through a buy one, donate one model so we can get our community to come on board and help make it happen and that’s exactly what we’ve done,” Ellen shared with Seacrest.

“We normally make aprons and workwear for the culinary workers — we offer thousands of restaurants across the United States — and we decided to take the beautiful fabrics we already use … and turn them into functional reusable masks,” she added.

Her cause has not only helped donate thousands of masks, but also keep her staff on the pay roll. To get involved and learn more, listen back to the audio above and head to HedleyandBennett.com
