Kelly Clarkson Comes Full Circle In Her 'I Don’t Think About You' Video

Despite her steady promotional circuit for The Voice, it's sort of surprising to think that Kelly Clarkson is only two singles deep into her Meaning of Life LP, which dropped in October, but her follow-up single, "I Don't Think About You," now has an official video.

On Tuesday (March 20), the American Idol champ dropped the visual to the emotional ballad and it sees some of her autobiographical lows represented in the almost-four minute clip. Not only does it touch on her tense childhood home life, but the video also hits on her professional troubles when she battled against her label over creative control. We're getting some Clive Davis shade from this one.

In our previous interview with Clarkson, the singer admitted that she was looking for a ballad that not everybody could sing and ended up with "I Don't Think About You." "Now, the problem with that is they almost wrote one that I couldn't sing," she confessed with a laugh. "It's a message song and I know a lot of people know I love message songs and I love empowering things. This song is basically my time to breathe. I'm out of an arranged marriage musically, business-wise."

"I Don't Think About You' is the moment you realize something has no power over you anymore," the 35-year-old star wrote alongside some footage from the visual in an Instagram post. "We all have people and/or situations in life that mold us and sometimes those situations can feel like they're about to break us, but this song is about that morning you wake up and you don’t even think about it anymore. It holds no power, no weight in your world, and consumes your thoughts no longer. It’s a song about freedom, honestly."
