Celebrities are reacting to Hurricane Irma, the most powerful Atlantic storm ever recorded. See Hollywood stars’ tweets and reactions to the storm below.

The massive Category 5 hurricane, which the National Hurricane Center called deemed “potentially catastrophic,” approached Antigua on Tuesday. The storm battered the tiny island of Barbuda early Wednesday, and is currently marching along its path on the Caribbean. Other islands under severe threat are Aguilla, Puerto Rico, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Martin/St. Maarten, and St. Barts.

On Monday, after the National Hurricane Center declared Irma had Florida in its sights, its governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency. Scott said, “In Florida, we always prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We cannot afford to not be prepared.”

Among those commenting on the hurricane and sending prayers to those in the storm’s destructive path is Missy Elliott, who wrote, “Praying 4 safety 4 those in the path of the new Hurricane Irma. I pray it passes over or weakens, grab an emergency kit just incase & stock up.” She added, “Prayers for these islands who are going through this #HurricaneIrma especially the island of Barbuda who seem to lost contact 4hrs ago.” President Donald Trump said, “Watching Hurricane closely. My team, which has done, and is doing, such a good job in Texas, is already in Florida. No rest for the weary!”
